Need Help Deciding?
For most sleepers, we recommend the Birch Natural Mattress over the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium. Our catalog rates it higher for cooling, edge support; check current linked-seller prices and terms before deciding on value. The Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium is the better choice only if you have a strong preference for that brand's specific feel or design.
Birch Natural Mattress vs Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium: What Actually Differs
The Birch Natural Mattress is a hybrid build, while the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium is a foam — that construction difference drives most of the cooling, motion, and feel decisions below. Profile-wise they're almost identical — the Birch Natural Mattress measures 10" and the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium measures 10", so neither will dictate your sheet depth or bed-frame compatibility. The Birch Natural Mattress is the firmer of the two at 7/10 (medium-firm), and the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium sits at 6/10 (medium) — a meaningful enough gap that sleeper position and weight should drive the choice. The single largest performance gap is in motion isolation: the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium rates noticeably higher than the Birch Natural Mattress, which is the deciding factor if that dimension is high on your list. The linked-seller trial periods aren't symmetrical either: the Birch Natural Mattress is listed with 120 nights at Birch; 30-night minimum; $99 return pickup fee, versus 90 nights at Tempur-Pedic; 30-night minimum; return shipping deducted for the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium.
Which Is Better For Your Sleep Style?
Both rate the same for pressure relief — choose on firmness instead (side sleepers usually prefer the softer of the two: Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium at 6/10).
Medium includes the option closest to a balanced medium feel for back sleepers (vs Medium-Firm).
Medium-Firm includes the firmer published option (vs Medium), which may better suit shoppers who prefer more surface support.
Stronger cooling rating, which matters most for sleepers who run hot or live in warm climates.
stronger perimeter / edge support — the two specs heavier sleepers should weigh most.
Medium includes the softer published option (vs Medium-Firm), which can make contouring easier for lighter sleepers.
Higher motion-isolation rating, which means less disturbance when a partner moves or gets out of bed.
Birch Natural Mattress
Strengths
- ✓Responsive organic latex cushions without a slow memory-foam hug
- ✓Natural wool, cotton, latex, and open coils support airflow
- ✓Up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils with reinforced lengthwise sides
- ✓120-night direct comfort guarantee and limited lifetime warranty
Considerations
- —One medium-firm feel and one 10-inch height
- —Reinforcement runs along the long sides rather than the complete perimeter
- —Optional EcoCool graphite layer costs extra
Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud Medium
Strengths
- ✓The all-foam support system is the quieter Cloud choice for partners who prioritize motion absorption over spring response
- ✓Soft-responsive comfort material over a firmer slow-adapting TEMPUR layer creates the collection's medium contour without a coil unit
- ✓The 10-inch compressed design ships free by UPS and is Tempur-Pedic's lower-priced direct entry into its current mattress lineup
- ✓Choose Medium before Hybrid when close contouring and motion control matter more than easier movement or a coil-supported perimeter
Considerations
- —Tempur-Pedic does not publish the thickness or density of the individual comfort, support, and base layers, so shoppers cannot compare a complete numeric foam recipe
- —The slow-moving all-foam surface takes more effort to reposition on and does not provide the Hybrid's coil-assisted edge support
- —The stretch cover is spot-clean only, and this compressed model does not include White Glove Delivery or old-mattress removal
