Find your best fit

Start with your buying decision

Start with these listed features, advertised feel, and seller terms, then consider how they fit your preferences. The detailed comparison below covers shared features, differences, and questions to confirm before choosing either mattress.

The literal construction difference

Helix Midnight Elite: Responsive Foam layers tuned to a Medium feel for side sleepers and people who toss and turn
Helix Sunset Elite: Responsive Foam layers tuned to a Soft feel for side sleepers and people who toss and turn

Why it matters: Helix keeps the cooling, pressure-distribution, lumbar, microcoil, and edge systems equal, then changes how the responsive foams yield and push back. Midnight: Its responsive layers spread pressure across the shoulder and hip without the deepest Soft cradle. Sunset: Its responsive layers make extra room around the shoulder and hip for side sleeping. The better model is the one that supports your usual position, not the one with the firmer name.

Firmness and surface sink

Helix Midnight Elite: Medium; Helix publishes 5–6/10
Helix Sunset Elite: Soft; Helix publishes 2–3/10

Why it matters: Midnight: It balances contour with more pushback than Sunset, reducing sink while still cushioning the shoulder and hip. Sunset: It gives the shoulder and hip the deepest sink in this Helix feel set, creating the most enveloping cradle. Both retain a deeply cushioned Elite top, but that shared top does not erase the difference in sink, pushback, or turning ease below it.

Primary sleep-position target

Helix Midnight Elite: Designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn
Helix Sunset Elite: Designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn

Why it matters: Side-sleeper versions make more room around the shoulder and hip. Back-and-stomach versions concentrate more lift beneath the pelvis so the torso stays closer to level. If you rotate positions, choose for the position you hold longest and use the 120-night trial to confirm the fit at home.

Which one fits you

Our buying recommendation

Buy Midnight Elite for a medium feel designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn: It balances contour with more pushback than Sunset, reducing sink while still cushioning the shoulder and hip. Buy Sunset Elite for a soft feel designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn: It gives the shoulder and hip the deepest sink in this Helix feel set, creating the most enveloping cradle. Both include the same GlacioTex Elite surface, two-inch top, SupremeSupport 7.0 foam, dual microcoils, ErgoAlign, zoned coils, full edge reinforcement, price, trial, and warranty. The literal reason to choose one is the support response you need, not an added feature.

Helix Midnight Elite vs Sunset Elite: The Literal Fit Differences

Midnight Elite and Sunset Elite share Helix's complete 15-inch, nine-layer Elite construction and the same $2,998 Queen price. Both include a GlacioTex Elite cover, a two-inch quilted top, SupremeSupport 7.0 Memory Foam, two microcoil layers, ErgoAlign, zoned main coils, and full-perimeter reinforcement. The literal differences are the firmness and the way Helix tunes the responsive foams for sleep position. Midnight Elite is 5–6/10 for side sleepers and people who toss and turn; Sunset Elite is 2–3/10 for side sleepers and people who toss and turn. Choose the calibration your body needs because neither model adds another material or costs more.

Official Helix Midnight Elite construction render showing its cooling top, high-density foams, microcoils, and support coils — Helix Midnight Elite uses the complete Elite material stack. Its meaningful difference in this comparison is a medium response tuned for side sleepers and people who toss and turn.

Official Helix Sunset Elite construction render showing its cooling top, high-density foams, microcoils, and support coils — Helix Sunset Elite uses the same named Elite hardware. Helix changes the feel and position-specific response rather than adding or removing a layer.

Shared Elite comfort and cooling system

Helix Midnight Elite: GlacioTex Elite cover, two-inch quilted top, SupremeSupport 7.0 Memory Foam, Gel Memory Foam, and two microcoil layers
Helix Sunset Elite: The same cooling surface, quilted depth, high-density memory foam, gel foam, and dual microcoils

Why it matters

Neither mattress offers more premium material. Both provide the same deep comfort stack, cool-to-the-touch surface, airflow around the microcoils, and small independent response points that can help the bed recover as a sleeper turns. Fit comes from foam calibration, so do not pay attention to a perceived tier difference that does not exist.

Shared lumbar, coil, and edge support

Helix Midnight Elite: ErgoAlign dense foam, zoned 8-inch main coils, and full-perimeter reinforcement
Helix Sunset Elite: The same ErgoAlign layer, zoned main-coil unit, and reinforced perimeter

Why it matters

Both reinforce the midsection twice: ErgoAlign adds dense foam above the zoned coil unit, and the main coils add more resistance through the center. Couples and edge sleepers receive the same published support hardware on either model. The decision is how firm and position-specific you want the layers above that common support system to feel.

Profile, price, and cooling option

Helix Midnight Elite: 15 inches; $2,998 current / $3,997.33 regular; CoolForce +$280
Helix Sunset Elite: The same height, base Queen price, regular price, and CoolForce option

Why it matters

There is no verified price, height, or cooling premium. Add CoolForce only when the extra manufacturer-described heat transfer addresses persistent overheating; it does not improve the firmness match. Standard deep-pocket sheets should be checked against the shared 15-inch profile.

Direct-store comfort guarantee

Helix Midnight Elite: 120-night trial after delivery; 30-night minimum; eligible exchange or free return; Limited Lifetime Warranty
Helix Sunset Elite: The same 120-night trial, free eligible return process, and Limited Lifetime Warranty

Why it matters

The direct Helix policy gives both choices the same confidence signal. After the 30-night adjustment period, Helix can help with a comfort adjustment, exchange, or eligible free return during the 120-night window. Another retailer's policy controls when that retailer supplies the purchase link.

Who benefits from each mattress?

Use the differences above to match the mattress to the way you sleep. Each model has a clear reason to buy. When one costs less, choose it if it already delivers the feel, support, and temperature control you want. Pay more when the added material or feature gives you a benefit you expect to notice every night.

Choose Helix Midnight Elite if:

Buy Midnight Elite when you want a medium feel designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn.
It balances contour with more pushback than Sunset, reducing sink while still cushioning the shoulder and hip.
Its responsive layers spread pressure across the shoulder and hip without the deepest Soft cradle.

Choose Helix Sunset Elite if:

Buy Sunset Elite when you want a soft feel designed for side sleepers and people who toss and turn.
It gives the shoulder and hip the deepest sink in this Helix feel set, creating the most enveloping cradle.
Its responsive layers make extra room around the shoulder and hip for side sleeping.

Advantages and trade-offs

Both mattresses can be a strong purchase. These are the clearest strengths you gain and the compromises you accept with each one.

Helix Midnight Elite

Advantages

Its medium calibration directly serves side sleepers and people who toss and turn.
It includes every Elite cooling, microcoil, lumbar, and edge feature at the same price as the other model.

Trade-offs

Its response is less suitable when the soft feel or side sleepers and people who toss and turn profile describes you better.
The 15-inch profile is tall, and the optional CoolForce layer adds cost without changing fit.

Helix Sunset Elite

Advantages

Its soft calibration directly serves side sleepers and people who toss and turn.
It includes the same complete Elite material and support package for the same Queen price.

Trade-offs

Its response is less suitable when the medium feel or side sleepers and people who toss and turn profile describes you better.
The premium Elite construction is unnecessary when a lower Helix tier already supplies enough cushioning and support.
