Retired-model decision guide
What replaced the Amerisleep AS4?
Amerisleep no longer presents AS4 as a current mattress: its former product URL redirects to AS3, and the current lineup moves from AS3 to AS5. AS3 and AS5 are the practical current choices, but neither is the same mattress under a new name.
Retired AS4
Medium-soft, 12-inch foam
Amerisleep's archived specification described 4 inches of Bio-Pur memory foam, 1 inch of Affinity foam with HIVE zoning, and a 7-inch Bio-Core base.
That unusually deep comfort layer was the reason to choose AS4: more shoulder and hip contour than AS3 without going to the taller, softer AS5.
Current Medium choice
Amerisleep AS3
$1,149 Queen
Choose AS3 when you wanted AS4's 12-inch all-foam format but prefer a more balanced surface and broader side, back, and combination-sleeper fit.
AS3 uses Bio-Pur comfort foam, HIVE zoned support, and a Bio-Core base. It is the closer current choice for shoppers who do not want Amerisleep's softest feel.
Current Soft choice
Amerisleep AS5
$1,749 Queen
Choose AS5 when the reason you wanted AS4 was deeper shoulder and hip cushioning for side sleeping.
AS5 is a 14-inch design that adds responsive Active Flex between its Bio-Pur comfort foam and HIVE support system. It is softer and taller than the retired AS4, so it is an alternative rather than a renamed replacement.
Do not buy an AS3 expecting the old AS4 feel
AS3 is currently labeled Medium; AS5 is labeled Soft. An existing AS4 owner seeking the same medium-soft calibration should treat both as alternatives and use Amerisleep's current 100-night trial, including its requested 30-night adjustment period, to judge the replacement.
