Why we recommend it
- +The published five-part build explains the feel: slow-response Beyond Latex provides the closer contour, while the Active foam above the latex core is designed to recover more readily as you change position
- +The construction is springless, wool-free, and polyurethane-free; the organic latex carries the GOLS claim and the removable organic-cotton cover carries the separate GOTS claim

Pros & Cons
Pros
- + The published five-part build explains the feel: slow-response Beyond Latex provides the closer contour, while the Active foam above the latex core is designed to recover more readily as you change position
- + The construction is springless, wool-free, and polyurethane-free; the organic latex carries the GOLS claim and the removable organic-cotton cover carries the separate GOTS claim
- + At the checked base Queen prices, REM5 costs $4,700 less than Dormeuse REM9 while retaining the same core, slow-response foam, Active foam, 120-night trial, and 20-year warranty framework
- + Choose REM5 before REM9 when a medium-responsive surface and medium-firm support fit your preference and REM9's softer surface plus exclusive Accelerated Recovery layer do not justify the premium
Cons
- - The base Queen costs $5,099, yet Essentia does not publish individual layer thicknesses; the value case rests on the disclosed formulation, certification scope, and feel rather than measurable comfort-layer depth
- - REM5 omits the faster-rebounding Accelerated Recovery layer that is exclusive to REM9, so shoppers specifically seeking the softer premium surface should compare both before buying
- - Essentia's temperature, sleep-stage, recovery, allergy, mold, and optional EMF statements are seller claims; SleepRanked has not independently verified those outcomes and does not recommend paying for an upgrade on that evidence alone
- - The 120-night trial requires at least 30 nights, and an approved return or exchange deducts 9% of the listed retail price plus applicable taxes
