The Amerisleep AS5 Hybrid is the softest hybrid in Amerisleep's lineup at 2.5/10 firmness, layering Amerisleep's signature Bio-Pur foam over a HIVE® zoned support layer and a pocketed coil base. The hybrid construction is a meaningful upgrade over the all-foam AS5: better airflow, less heat retention, and more durable edge behavior than the foam-only version delivers.
Verified ratings show excellent pressure relief — the headline metric for a soft mattress — paired with good ratings on cooling, motion isolation, edge support, and durability. The 2.5/10 firmness is well-suited to side sleepers needing deep pressure relief at the hips and shoulders, lightweight sleepers under ~150 lbs, and sleepers with specific pressure-point sensitivity. The HIVE® zoned support layer compensates for the plush surface by adding firmer support under the hips and lumbar — preventing the misalignment that ultra-soft mattresses typically cause.
Amerisleep's 20-year non-prorated warranty is among the longest in the industry, and the 100-night trial is standard for the price band. The Bio-Pur foam is CertiPUR-US certified. The Queen sale price of $1,549 ($2,149 MSRP) is competitive for a luxe-tier soft hybrid.
The limitations track the firmness profile. At 2.5/10, the AS5 Hybrid is not suitable for back or stomach sleepers — the hips will sink into misalignment, and stomach sleeping in particular will hyperextend the lumbar. Pricing reflects the premium materials and construction above mainstream mattress standards; if pressure relief is not a primary need, less specialized softer mattresses are available at lower price points. For the target sleeper — side sleeping, lightweight, pressure-sensitive — this is one of the better-credentialed options at the sale price.
