365-night trial with comfort-exchange options at Nest Bedding
After 30 nights, eligible adult mattresses can be returned or receive one comfort exchange. An exchange does not restart the original trial window.
The useful question is what the materials and feel change for the sleeper. Here is the practical case for this exact model, along with the trade-offs to weigh.
Nest Starling is a 12.5-inch all-foam mattress with two inches of Energex and 1.25 inches of slow-response Memory Foam above convoluted support foam. Reverse the internal comfort-layer order to change the feel; the current mattress is not an elastic polymer-grid design.
Side sleepers
Cushioning at the shoulder and hip matters most; use the listed feel to judge how much give you want.
Back sleepers
Balanced contouring and surface support matter more than an especially deep or plush sink.
Pressure relief shoppers
The comfort layers should spread pressure without letting the body sink farther than preferred.
Nest Starling specs and fit
Starling is a 12.5-inch all-foam mattress with two inches of Energex and 1.25 inches of titanium- and graphite-infused slow-response memory foam above convoluted support foam. The current construction is foam, despite the legacy 'grid' wording in its merchant address.
The two comfort foams provide different surface responses. Nest says placing slow-response memory foam on top increases softness, while placing Energex on top increases firmness and responsiveness. Consider it if you want to experiment within that foam comfort range rather than commit to one layer order. The convoluted support layer has cut channels and foam edge wedges; it is not an elastic polymer grid or a pocketed-coil system. Choose a hybrid instead if spring response is a priority.
Open the zippered cover and reverse the internal comfort-layer order to change the feel. Do not turn over the whole mattress as you would Raven. Qualifying Starling purchases include one Lifetime Renewal Exchange (LRE) for a comfort layer during the trial or later. A full mattress exchange uses that benefit and does not create another free renewal.
A reversible layer order is not unlimited firmness customization: the same two foams remain inside. Deep foam cushioning can still feel warmer or slower to move on than you expect. The named cooling materials and airflow channels do not prove an independently measured temperature reduction.
Starling uses a THERMIC phase-change cover and CertiPUR-US certified foams. Titanium and graphite are foam infusions, not evidence of a separate grid layer. Foam certification does not mean the whole mattress is organic or emission-free.
SleepRanked has not hands-on tested cooling, pressure relief, motion transfer or durability. Fit observations are construction-based expectations, not measured outcomes or health promises.
The Nest Bedding Starling Signature Contour score brings together cooling, motion isolation, pressure relief, edge support, durability, price and purchase terms for an at-a-glance comparison. Softer or firmer feel does not raise or lower this general score.
This score weighs performance, price and purchase terms. Softer or firmer feel does not raise or lower it; the uses your sleep position and feel preferences to help find a suitable match. .

Shopping policy highlights
Shipping, trial and return eligibility can vary by seller. Confirm the terms before ordering.
Couples
Motion control and usable edge support matter most when two people share the bed.
Foam shoppers
Foam contouring and motion control matter more here than coil bounce or a springier surface.
Nest's direct 365-night trial starts at original delivery and requires 30 nights of use. An exchange does not restart it. Unpack promptly: more than 30 days boxed voids return privileges. Use rigid, flat support with slats no more than four inches apart; bowed or flexing slats and traditional box springs can void eligibility.
Keep the mattress clean, donatable and undamaged, with law labels attached. Approved returns require a donation or disposal receipt before a refund. Pickup is not guaranteed everywhere; methods and optional removal can involve fees. The original purchaser's limited lifetime warranty covers qualifying defects, excluding normal softening and changing comfort preferences. Other sellers' terms can differ.
